ACOG publishes 2022/23 Annual Report
ACOG has today published its 2022/23 Annual Report, detailing progress on the national programme of airspace change as the industry continues to recover from COVID.
The report highlights progress in several key areas last year. These include:
- An announcement from the Government that it would provide the remainder of the funding ACOG had advocated for during COVID. This enabled the airport-led ACPs to restart and many of them to complete Stage 2 of the CAA’s airspace change process.
- Formal acceptance of ACOG’s Airspace Masterplan by the CAA and DfT which enabled airports to move to the next stage of the airspace change process that involves refining the airspace options. This work is supporting the development of the next draft of our Masterplan in 2023.
- Successfully demonstrating the collective benefits and impacts of the airspace modernisation programme. This was achieved in two main ways. Firstly, through the publication of the Environmental Strategy which outlined the environmental challenges and opportunities created by airspace modernisation, including its contribution to the net-zero 2050 goals for UK aviation. Secondly, through the Economic Report, outlining the economic benefits of airspace modernisation.
The report also looks ahead to 2023 and ACOG’s aspirations for the next iteration of the Airspace Masterplan.
